Sculptra is a biostimulator filler — poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) injected deep into the skin where it triggers your body's own fibroblasts to build new collagen over 6-12 weeks. It works through facial volume restoration built from your own collagen scaffolding, not space-filling gel.
The water-based carrier fluid creates a small initial plumpness that fades in a few days. For the next several weeks nothing visible happens — but underneath, your body is laying down new collagen. Real before-and-after change emerges at about 6 weeks and continues developing 3-6 months after your final treatment.
