The Treatment

The right acid for the right goal

Chemical peels apply controlled acid to exfoliate skin at a specific depth — from light refresh to dramatic renewal. We pick the acid (glycolic, lactic, salicylic, TCA) and strength for your skin type, concern, and how much downtime you can accept.

Light peels (glycolic, lactic, salicylic) refresh the surface — great for brightness, congestion, mild texture. Done as a 4-6 session series.

Medium-depth peels (TCA) reach into the upper dermis — transformational improvement in tone, texture, and fine lines. One session produces significant change but takes 5-7 days of visible peeling to recover.

A real Skinsation LA peel — depth picked for the concern, the layered application that follows, and the resurfacing reveal a week out.

FAQ

Peel Questions

What is a chemical peel?

A controlled application of acids (glycolic, salicylic, lactic, TCA — depending on depth) that exfoliates the top layers of skin. Over the following 5-7 days, treated skin peels off, revealing smoother, more evenly-toned skin underneath.

Light vs medium-depth peels?

Light peels (glycolic, lactic, salicylic) exfoliate the top layer — mild redness and light flaking, no real downtime. Medium-depth peels (TCA) reach deeper — visible peeling for 5-7 days, dramatic improvements in tone and texture. We'll recommend the depth for your goals and schedule.

How many sessions will I need?

Light peels: a series of 4-6 spaced 3-4 weeks apart. Medium peels: 1 session can produce significant improvement, with optional repeats every 6-12 months.

What's the recovery?

Light peel: mild flaking days 2-5, fully presentable. Medium peel: visible peeling days 3-7, often with days 4-5 being the most noticeable. Strict sun avoidance for 2+ weeks.

What types of chemical peels do you offer?

Glycolic (alpha-hydroxy, surface refresh), salicylic (beta-hydroxy, oil-soluble — best for acne and congested pores), lactic (gentlest), Jessner (a layered combination for stronger results), and TCA (medium-depth for transformational tone and texture work). The right peel is matched to your skin type, concerns, and downtime tolerance.

How much does a chemical peel cost?

At Skinsation LA, individual peels are $350. The acid type and depth chosen for your skin are included in that price — we do not upcharge for medium-depth TCA over a glycolic. Series packages discounted at consult.

How much is a chemical peel in Los Angeles?

The cost of a chemical peel in Los Angeles can vary depending on the type of peel and the specific concerns you wish to address. On average, the price for a chemical peel typically ranges from $200 to $600 per session.

Can I get a chemical peel if I use tretinoin?

You can continue Hydroquinone up until the time of the peel and after, but you must stop Tretinoin 7-10 days prior to your chemical peel. This is because Tretinoin can increase the depth of dermal penetration of peeling products and this can lead to complications.
