A light touch is intentional — injectables should soften expressions, not erase them.
IPL targets the colors in your skin it shouldn't have — brown pigment from sun damage, red vascular lesions and diffuse redness from early rosacea. Broad-spectrum light is absorbed by the pigment or hemoglobin, then the body clears the disrupted cells and lesions over the following days.
The first few days after IPL look worse before better: brown spots darken visibly before flaking off around day 5-10. That's the treatment working. By the 2-week mark, the treated pigment is gone and skin looks more evenly toned.
A full course is typically 3-5 sessions spaced 4 weeks apart. Annual maintenance sessions (1-2 per year) prevent new sun damage from accumulating.
Skin cleansed. Cool gel applied. Protective eyewear placed.
The handpiece delivers pulses of broad-spectrum light across the face. Sensation: a brief rubber-band snap with each pulse.
Light is absorbed by melanin (brown pigment) or hemoglobin (redness), disrupting the target without affecting surrounding skin.
Body clears the disrupted pigment over 5-10 days. Return in 4 weeks for your next session.

A look at how Skinsation LA approaches intense pulsed light — pigment, vascular redness, and photorejuvenation in one session.
The staff at Skin Tightening, Botox and Lip Fillers by Skinsation LA is amazing! I had the honor to work with several nurses there during my multiple visits and absolutely adore their injectable filler work. I have received Botox, cheek filler, and lip filler from her. Their staff takes their time and truly cares about their clients. I HIGHLY recommend this spa! You will not be disappointed.
Their services help me feel my best. Been coming here for laser and touch-up. Very hygienic environment. I recommend doing multiple services per booking so it isn't a waste of a drive or time for the nurses (did not realize this for a while for the time I was going in for just one small thing).
Skin Tightening, Botox and Lip Fillers by Skinsation LA is an absolutely amazing medical organization! I had the honor to work with Nurse Gohar multiple times now and absolutely adore her and her work. I have received Botox, cheek filler, and lip filler from her. She takes her time and truly cares about her clients. I HIGHLY recommend her! 👌😉🔥 Botox is best I’ve had
great place and amazing, friendly staff. I’ve done 2 of 3 ipl sessions here and my skin has never looked better. I’m so happy to have found them!! Nurse Katherine is the best- so kind, so knowledgeable, so professional, and super caring. Nurse Hussna was so sweet, so easy to talk to, and really took her time. They were both so attentive and caring. Seriously can’t recommend them enough. They listened to me and adjusted parameters to better meet my goals. I felt listened to, not judged, and okay in voicing concerns. If you’re hesitating, don’t. Treat yourself and your skin (or lips, or whatever else you’ve had your eye on). Support this women owned/ ran medspa. Their staff is knowledgeable and so comforting ♥️
I had some sun spots around my cheeks that didn't go away. A friend recommended to try IPL at Skinsation L.A.. The treatment was not painful and the staff was nice and friendly. They thoroughly explained what to expect and my face looks much brighter and the sun spots are gone!
Highly recommend this place. I got laser facial with nurse Gohar for pigmentation. Great results. The staff is amazing and the manager is very accommodating and super sweet.

Every unit is placed with a plan for how your face actually moves — refined, subtle, patient-first.
I trained as an internist before I trained in aesthetics. That order matters. It's why every plan we build at Skinsation starts with the patient — not the procedure.
IPL stands for Intense Pulsed Light — broad-spectrum light (not a true laser) that targets pigment and redness in the skin without damaging the surrounding tissue. It's the go-to treatment for sun damage, brown spots, diffuse redness, and early rosacea.
A photofacial is the same IPL treatment marketed as a full-face skin-rejuvenation session. The handpiece passes across the entire face to target pigment and redness in one visit, rather than treating an isolated spot. Photorejuvenation is the broader umbrella term — IPL is the most common method.
After IPL, pigmented spots temporarily darken (they look more visible for a few days) before flaking off over 5-10 days. That's the treatment working — the pigment is being pushed up and out.
Most clients do a series of 3-5 sessions spaced 4 weeks apart to clear existing pigment. Annual maintenance sessions prevent new sun damage from accumulating.
IPL works best on lighter skin tones (Fitzpatrick I-III). For deeper skin tones where IPL carries pigmentation risk, we'll recommend alternatives like Morpheus8 or chemical peels.
Mild — described as a rubber-band snap against the skin. A cool tip on the handpiece helps. No numbing is typically needed. Mild redness for a few hours afterward.
