Slim the jaw. Relieve TMJ tension. Soften clenching and grinding. Botox to the masseter muscle, $13/unit, 4-6 week visible build.
Masseter Botox does two distinct things at once — it slims a wide jawline by atrophying the chewing muscle, AND it dramatically reduces the constant clenching force that drives TMJ pain, tension headaches, and night-grinding. Most patients book for one and discover the other.
The masseter is the strongest muscle in the human body relative to size. In patients who clench, grind, or have naturally bulky masseters, it visibly squares the lower face and exhausts the temporomandibular joint. Botox temporarily relaxes the muscle. Over 4-6 weeks the muscle atrophies from disuse — like an unused gym muscle — and the jawline becomes softer and more defined. TMJ tension drops because the clench force is reduced.
This is a higher-dose Botox treatment than cosmetic forehead or glabella work — typically 20-30 units per side. The dose matters: under-dosed masseter Botox produces minimal slimming and frustrates TMJ patients. We dose to muscle bulk, not to a number on a brochure.
Your injector palpates the masseter muscle (you clench your jaw and they feel the bulk), discusses your goals — slimming, TMJ, or both — and confirms unit dosing.
Brief injections into 3-5 points across each masseter. Small needle, minimal sensation. The whole treatment takes about 5-10 minutes once dosing is set.
The masseter starts to relax within days. TMJ tension and clenching force drop in 1-2 weeks. Tension headaches often resolve in the same window.
Over 4-6 weeks the muscle atrophies from disuse and the jawline visibly softens. Compound effect — each subsequent treatment makes the change more permanent.
Pricing per unit from our GHL booking system. Most treatments require 40-60 total units. Touch-ups every 4-6 months.
I love the nurse , Highly recommend to anyone looking for fillers Botox and skin treatments. I was so happy with my Botox and Morpheus8 results I came back for filler , my jaw is completely changed more defined and contoured. Thank you to the nurses and staff at skinsation!
Wow, as someone who's never done this kind of stuff before, I'm very impressed. The staff at Skinsation LA were super accommodating and answered all my questions about Botox for my forehead and even recommended me Morpheus8 treatments to help tighten my saggy skin around my neck and jawline. This was such a great and painless experience with the team!
The Vibe: Finally hit up Skinsation LA for Botox/Filler and NP Farah is a literal artist. I wanted a defined jawline without looking "overdone" or losing my natural look as a man. Farah was so chill. She mapped my face and took photos to show me exactly how the Juvéderm would settle. Total precision.
i’ve been here 3 times now for “traptox” and masseter botox and the technician, Alex, was great. other staff are super nice and on top of things. good prices per unit of botox too 🙏
I wanted to leave an update for my favorite med spa in los angeles. The tox for my jawline has got me snatched in 2024. Very welcoming and professional . Skinsation offers complimentary consults, which was nice. Low pressure. The nurse that administered my botox injections with great! Not one single bruise! Very minimal facial discomfort. I love the results post treatment. My face is wonderfully frozen!!
My girl Farah is hands down the best in the business! She is so nice and makes me feel so comfortable and welcome. She isn’t pushy and will never talk you into procedures you don’t need. Which is rare in Los Angeles. Lol. I’ve gotten Botox and jawline fillers with her and have been completely happy with the stellar results. I feel like a new man with an actual side profile.

Every unit is placed with a plan for how your face actually moves — refined, subtle, patient-first.
I trained as an internist before I trained in aesthetics. That order matters. It's why every plan we build at Skinsation starts with the patient — not the procedure.
Masseter Botox is priced per unit (same as cosmetic Botox) at $13/unit. Typical dosing is 20-30 units per side, so a full treatment runs $520-$780 depending on muscle bulk. Larger clenchers or visible jaw masses may need 30+ units per side.
Botox temporarily relaxes the masseter muscle (the chewing muscle on the side of the jaw). Without constant contraction, the muscle gradually atrophies — like an unused gym muscle — and the jawline becomes softer and more defined over 4-6 weeks. The slimming compounds with each subsequent treatment.
Yes — relaxing the masseter reduces clenching force and chronic muscle tension, which is the root mechanism of most TMJ pain and headaches. Many of our masseter Botox clients book primarily for TMJ relief; the slimming is a welcome side effect. Significant relief is typical within 1-2 weeks.
Masseter Botox lasts 4-6 months — longer than cosmetic Botox because of the higher dose. Heavy clenchers and grinders may need it every 3-4 months early on; spacing extends after 2-3 sessions as the muscle atrophies.
No, when properly placed. The masseter is below and behind the smile-related muscles (zygomaticus, levator). A skilled injector keeps Botox out of the smile zone. Asymmetric smile after masseter Botox usually means the dose drifted — call us for assessment if you notice this.
Minimal. You can return to normal activity immediately. Expect mild jaw soreness or weakness when chewing for 3-7 days. Avoid hard foods (crusty bread, raw carrots) for the first few days. Visible slimming builds gradually over 4-6 weeks. Read our full masseter Botox aftercare guide.
Yes — common combinations include cosmetic Botox (forehead, glabella, crow's feet) at the same appointment, plus chin filler or jawline filler to enhance the slimming/contouring result. Discuss combinations at consult.
Pregnant or nursing patients, people with certain neuromuscular disorders (myasthenia gravis), and patients with active jaw infection should defer. Heavy bite-force athletes (some MMA fighters, weightlifters) may want to discuss tradeoffs with their performance coach since reduced bite force is part of the mechanism.
