What's the Difference Between CoolPeel and CO2?

CoolPeel and a "traditional" CO2 treatment sound like two different lasers — but they're actually the same CO2 technology, used very differently. Here's the honest breakdown of what each one does, how much downtime to expect, and how we help you choose.

Same CO2 technology, two very different jobs

Fractional CO2 lasers deliver controlled columns of energy that prompt the skin to renew and rebuild collagen. On our DEKA platform, that same energy can be dialed light and superficial — a CoolPeel — or taken much deeper for a traditional resurfacing treatment. Think of it as one tool with two depths, not two rival machines.

CoolPeel — the light refresh

A CoolPeel is the gentler, more superficial treatment. It targets texture, pores, sun damage, and overall skin quality, and the downtime is minimal — usually just a few days of redness that feels a bit like a light sunburn.

Is CoolPeel a CO2 laser?

Yes. CoolPeel is a lighter, more superficial setting of a fractional CO2 laser (on our DEKA platform). It uses the same CO2 energy as a traditional deep resurfacing treatment — it's just delivered more gently, so it refreshes the surface with far less downtime.

How much downtime does each one need?

CoolPeel is usually just a few days of redness, a bit like a sunburn. A traditional, deeper CO2 treatment works much deeper, so the trade-off is more visible healing over a longer stretch. Your exact recovery depends on your skin and how aggressively we treat — we'll set clear expectations at your consult.

Which one is better for acne scars or deeper wrinkles?

Can I do CoolPeel more than once?
