Dermaplaning Questions
What is dermaplaning?
Dermaplaning uses a sterile surgical blade held at a 45° angle to gently shave the skin's surface. It removes dead skin cells and fine vellus hair (peach fuzz). The result: smoother skin, brighter complexion, and better product penetration for weeks after.
Will the hair grow back thicker?
No. That's a persistent myth. Vellus hair (peach fuzz) grows back at the same rate, thickness, and color — it can't change structure from being cut. It's a common concern we hear and the evidence is clear on this one.
How often should I dermaplane?
Every 3-4 weeks is typical — matches the skin cell turnover cycle. More frequent treatments aren't more beneficial.
What's the recovery?
None. Skin looks immediately smoother and brighter. You can wear makeup right after (which goes on more evenly thanks to the hair-free surface).
Is it safe for all skin types?
Yes — works for all skin tones. Not recommended during active acne breakouts (can spread bacteria), for clients on blood thinners, or with known allergies to dermaplaning tools.
Dermaplaning vs microdermabrasion — what's the difference?
Dermaplaning uses a blade — removes dead skin AND vellus hair. Microdermabrasion uses crystals or a diamond tip — removes dead skin only, no hair removal. Dermaplaning is gentler and better for sensitive skin; microdermabrasion is slightly deeper.
