History

The Dodgers' franchise was located in Brooklyn, NY. However, Walter O'Malley, who purchased the team in 1950, searched for a new ballpark for the team. However, New York politicians prevented him from constructing a ballpark. In the very same year, cities on the west coast are experiencing population booms. Officials in San Francisco and Los Angeles aim to attract professional teams. The team moved to the West Coast, specifically to Los Angeles. The stadium’s construction started on September 17, 1959, and on April 10, 1962, they played their very first game against the Cincinnati Reds.
